Test the complete Train Lens experience with a colleague or second device before inviting trainees to a live training session.
A practice session lets you experience Train Lens from both the trainer and trainee perspectives before using it with a live group.
It can help you find account, browser, permission or screen-sharing problems while there is still time to resolve them.
Prepare:
Using a second computer provides the most realistic test. If you use one computer, open the trainee link in a separate browser or private browsing window.
Create a session specifically for testing. Give it a clear name such as Practice session so it is not confused with a real training event.
Use the same general settings you expect to use during live training.
Open the session joining link on the second device or send it to your colleague.
Confirm that the trainee can:
Ask the trainee to begin sharing a screen, window or browser tab.
Confirm that:
Ask the trainee to activate a help request.
Confirm that the trainer can identify who requested help. Afterward, ask the trainee to clear the request and confirm that the help indicator is removed.
Practice focusing on the trainee who requested help and providing individual guidance.
Confirm that you understand how to return to the wider group view after the trainee no longer needs assistance.
Finish the test in the same way you expect to end a live session.
Make a note of anything that was unclear or did not work as expected. Resolve those issues before sending a live session link to trainees.
Your setup is ready when:
Once the practice session is successful, continue with the trainer guide for creating your first live training session.
